◼ Is MODA right for my venue?
How do I reduce the cost of bottled water at my venue?
Switch to an on-tap system. MODA filters water on-site to deliver chilled still and sparkling water on demand at a cost as low as 10 cents per litre — against dollars per bottle once you factor in COGS, delivery, refrigeration and waste. A venue selling a dozen cases of bottled water per week can generate as much as $10,000 more per year. Try our Savings Calculator for an estimate based on your actual usage, or speak to a MODA Sparkling Specialist for a full assessment.
How do I improve water service margins at my restaurant or café?
Replace bottled water with an on-tap system. MODA reduces your cost of goods sold to as low as 10 cents per serve while you continue to charge at or around bottled water prices — $5–$9 per head in hatted restaurants, $10 per bottle in five-star hotels. Because your cost per litre goes down with volume, limitless per-head offers become particularly profitable. You can extend margins further with house-made sodas and spritzes from the same system.
How can my venue reduce plastic waste and improve its sustainability credentials?
Install an on-tap water system. A single venue can eliminate thousands of single-use plastic bottles per year — cutting food miles, packaging, delivery emissions and landfill in one move. Try our Sustainability Calculator to see the specific impact for your venue, or speak to the team about sustainability reporting and communications.
How do I free up fridge and storage space at my bar?
Replace bottled water with MODA. Eliminating cases of bottled water frees up fridge space for higher-margin products — craft beer and wine — and clears storage previously used for water stock and empties. It also removes staff time spent on ordering, unpacking deliveries and bin runs.
How do I add sparkling water or house-made sodas to my menu?
A MODA system handles both. It delivers chilled still and sparkling water on tap, and the same system can be used to make custom sodas and spritzes — a high-margin menu extension. Carbonation levels can be adjusted to suit the application. Ask your MODA Sparkling Specialist about setup and recipe ideas.
What's the best way to serve still and sparkling water at a premium restaurant?
On-tap, in branded glassware, served icy cold. The approach used by some of Australia's best restaurants — including Maybe Sammy, Bentley Group, Maha — is to replace imported bottles with an on-site system that delivers fine-bead quality at a fraction of the cost. The 'Still or sparkling?' offer stays the same; the product and the margins improve significantly.
How do I reduce staff workload around water service?
Replace bottled water with an on-tap system. Staff no longer spend time ordering stock, unpacking deliveries, restocking fridges or running empties to the bin. Those hours go back into customer service. Satisfied guests return — and repeat customers typically account for up to 40% of a venue's trade.
◼ What is MODA and how does it work?
What is MODA Water?
MODA is an independent Australian supplier of pure still and sparkling water systems. We install commercial-grade, Italian-made systems at venues across hospitality, hotels, offices, event spaces, gyms, salons, schools and healthcare — replacing bottled water with on-demand filtered water delivered from the tap. We support over 2,000 venues across Australia, with sister companies operating across the globe.
How does a MODA system actually work?
Mains water passes through advanced commercial filtration, is chilled close to freezing, and — for sparkling — infused with CO2 at controlled pressure to produce a fine-bead carbonation. Still and sparkling water are available on demand, with boiling water available as an optional companion system. The core unit has a compact under-counter footprint; no more water bottles, deliveries or restocking.
What makes MODA different from other commercial water systems?
Three things stand out. First, Italian-made systems — Italy has a long-standing obsession with fine sparkling water that drives genuine technical innovation. Second, Watermark certification and ISO-certified manufacturing. Third, service: when you call, you speak to someone who knows your site, not a call centre. Over 2,000 venues have made the switch.
Is tap sparkling water as good as bottled sparkling water?
For restaurant and hospitality use, yes — and in some ways better. MODA delivers consistent fine-bead, ice-cold sparkling water made on-site through advanced filtration. Unlike imported mineral water, it has no food miles, no packaging and notably lower sodium than most European sparkling waters – with a neutral taste that pairs perfectly with food, coffee and wine. Venues including four-time World's Best Restaurant Noma, during their waterfront Sydney residency, and some of Australia's top-rated restaurants serve it as their water of choice.
What does fine-bead sparkling water mean?
Fine-bead refers to small, consistent bubbles — the style associated with premium sparkling mineral water, as opposed to the larger carbonation of soda water. It requires chilling water very close to freezing before carbonation, which is only achievable through commercial-grade systems. MODA systems are designed specifically to achieve this quality consistently.
◼ Choosing the Right System
What types of MODA systems are available?
MODA's core range centres on bar-mounted taps (fonts) paired with under-counter systems – and extends to push-button, free-standing, countertop and wall-mount systems, boiling water companion systems, UV filters and circular glass bottling solutions for hotels and premium venues. System capacities run from 45 to 280 litres per hour. Font designs include Cobra, Charlie and T-Bar in 1, 2 or 3 outlet configurations, across a full set of finishes: chrome, black, bronze, nickel, white, copper and brass.
Does MODA offer boiling water?
Yes — boiling water is available as a separate companion system, dispensed from its own dedicated tap alongside your still and sparkling unit. Tap finishes include chrome, black, bronze and brass to complement our chilled and sparkling tap collection. Speak to your MODA Sparkling Specialist about adding it to your configuration.
What size system do I need for my venue?
As a minimum, 80 litres per hour for any professional establishment — below that and you risk compromising quality and volume during service. For high-demand venues systems extend to 280 L/Hour, although a 180 L/Hour system is typically a good size for a large venue or event space. Otherwise venues opt for two mid-sized systems positioned in different service locations to optimise workflow. To size accurately, calculate your water usage across your busiest 10-minute service period and pro-rate from there. Your MODA Sparkling Specialist can run this calculation with you.
Can a MODA system work for a small café, or just large venues?
Both. MODA systems start at 45 litres per hour and suit venues of all sizes. The economics work across the board — even at lower volumes, eliminating bottled water costs and staff handling time delivers a meaningful return. Speak to the team for a size and cost estimate specific to your venue.

◼ Installation & Setup
How is a MODA system installed?
It's a professional turnkey process — MODA handles everything. We manage site assessment, system placement, installation, commissioning and advice. Download our Provisions for Installation sheet from Guides & Downloads for full requirements ahead of your install date.
What does my venue need before MODA can be installed?
The required services are simply a standard 10-amp power point and cold-water point, plus you'll need a CO2 cylinder (we will introduce you to suppliers), under-counter space for the system and drainage if you have a plumbed drip tray. Ventilation is one of the most important requirements; for systems within joinery or cupboards, MODA specifies that a door or panel have a complete cutout with a mesh insert or vents with >70% perforation. Full details are in our Provisions for Installation and Ventilation sheets, both available in Guides & Downloads.
Can MODA be installed in an existing bar or kitchen?
Yes — systems are designed to retrofit into existing venues with minimal disruption. With 35+ tap styles and finishes available, MODA taps complement any fitout. Our team can assess your site before installation.
How much space does a MODA system take up?
The compact footprint is one of MODA's standout qualities. The core under-counter unit measures just 330×450mm — and at that size can still deliver up to 100 litres per hour of quality cold still and sparkling water. No other machine on the market matches that performance. Refer to the spec sheets in Guides & Downloads for full model dimensions.
Where's the best place to put the tap?
Think about how your team works. Bar staff can operate it directly, or it can be positioned so floor staff control water service independently — freeing bar staff for other drinks. Water is typically dispensed on-demand as ordered. The right placement reduces leg work — and that leg work and the associated savings alone can often cover the cost of the system.
◼ Service & Maintenance
What does the MODA service agreement include?
Preventative maintenance, filter changes, condenser and system cleaning, CO2 regulator, tap and seal checks as part of the 10-point maintenance programme, and troubleshooting for machine faults. MODA systems are supplied under a service agreement because commercial systems require periodic maintenance to perform as they should and deliver water quality commensurate with — or better than — bottled water. It's a quality control measure for everyone's benefit, not least the end customer.
How often do filters need to be changed?
MODA filters are rated to over 50,000 litres capacity. Actual change frequency depends on your usage volume and to some degree your actual source water, and is managed as part of your service agreement schedule — you don't need to track it yourself.
What maintenance do I need to manage myself day-to-day?
Very little. Keep the tap and glassware clean and monitor (occasionally) the CO2 cylinder level. The MODA Basics sheet — supplied with every system and available in Guides & Downloads — is a one-page reference for common questions and indicators. Everything else is covered by your service agreement.
What if my MODA system has an issue?
Call us — 1800 006 632. You'll speak to someone who knows your site, not a call centre. Machine faults are covered under the service agreement. The MODA Basics sheet in Guides & Downloads covers the most common situations first: no flow, slow flow, flat sparkling, unusual noise and temperature issues.
How reliable are MODA systems in a busy commercial environment?
Very. MODA systems are Italian-made, built for continuous commercial use, and manufactured under ISO 9001 quality management certification. Over 2,000 venues across Australia rely on MODA daily. Our in-house technical team and 100+ authorised service technicians nationally mean support is always at hand.
◼ Sustainability & Environmental Impact
How does switching to MODA reduce my venue's environmental impact?
It eliminates bottled water entirely. Producing one litre of bottled water requires up to 250 ml of oil and three litres of water — plus there's packaging, freight, refrigeration and landfill. MODA produces water on-site with zero packaging and significantly lower energy use. MODA systems use R290 natural refrigerant, which delivers 15% better energy efficiency in comparison to traditional refrigerants with zero refrigerant discharge into the atmosphere.
How much plastic can my venue actually eliminate?
Our Sustainability Calculator gives you a venue-specific breakdown in under a minute — plastic bottles eliminated per year, carbon emissions saved, oil equivalent, kilograms of plastic and landfill reduction — based on your actual weekly usage. The figures are verifiable and ready to use in reporting, marketing, on social media or in staff conversations with guests.
Can I see my venue's environmental impact before committing to MODA?
Yes — our Sustainability Calculator takes your weekly bottled water usage and produces a venue-specific impact report: plastic bottles eliminated, carbon emissions saved, oil equivalent, kilograms of plastic and landfill reduction. The results readily feed into sustainability reporting, marketing and staff communications.
Can MODA help with sustainability reporting or ESG goals?
Yes. Our Sustainability Calculator provides an estimate you can share with stakeholders or include in sustainability reports. For ongoing tracking, MODA can provide venue-specific data across carbon emissions, plastic reduction and waste. For hotel and corporate clients, we can integrate into broader sustainability frameworks to help you communicate your environmental impact.
◼ Costs & Commercial Value
How much does a MODA water system cost?
MODA systems start from $220 per month, depending on configuration and package inclusions. Packages can include up to $1,650 in extras — such as tap finish upgrades, glassware and installation — with no upfront cost. It's a monthly service model covering equipment, installation and maintenance. All of that with no capital outlay. Get in touch for a quote tailored to your venue.
How are MODA systems supplied?
MODA systems are supplied exclusively on a monthly service agreement. There is no outright purchase option — and for good reason. The service agreement covers installation, ongoing maintenance, filter changes and technical support, ensuring the system performs as it should and continues to deliver water quality that meets the standard your customers expect. It's a predictable monthly cost with no capital outlay – and maintenance included.
What are the ongoing running costs?
Your monthly service fee plus CO2, which costs very little. A 10 kg CO2 cylinder delivers approximately 2,000 litres of sparkling water at just a few cents per litre. There are no bottled water orders, no delivery fees and no storage costs.
How much cheaper is MODA than bottled water?
Significantly cheaper. MODA reduces your cost of goods sold to as low as 10 cents per serve — against dollars per bottle once you factor in product, freight, refrigeration and waste. A venue selling a dozen cases of bottled water per week can save as much as $10,000 more per year. Use our Savings Calculator to get a figure based on your actual weekly usage.
Is there a quick way to estimate what MODA could save my venue?
Yes — our Savings Calculator gives you an estimate in under a minute. Enter your weekly bottled water serves and it calculates your potential annual savings based on current bottled water costs plus handling and operational overhead. For a more detailed breakdown tailored to your venue, speak to a MODA Sparkling Specialist.
What should I charge customers for still and sparkling water?
At or around the same level as bottled water. We see $10 per bottle in five-star hotels, $5–$9 per head in hatted restaurants, and a few dollars per head at on-trend cafes. Limitless per-head offers work particularly well because your cost per litre goes down with volume — every additional glass improves the return. Your MODA Sparkling Specialist can review your specific menu pricing.
What other revenue can a MODA system generate?
Beyond still and sparkling water, the same system can be used for sodas and spritzes — a high-margin menu extension. Some venues integrate MODA into meal deals or alongside wine service. Hotels can extend to help-yourself facilities in common areas, find conferencing particularly lucrative and also opt for our micro-bottling plants as a complete solution for all water needs across the property, including guestrooms. The more applications, the stronger the return.
